BENEFITS
OF
OMEGA ONE
FLAKED FISH FOOD
FEATURE |
BENEFIT |
| Made with only fresh seafood - no fishmeal of other nutritionally compromised fish ingredients. |
Proteins are undenatured and undamaged by processing, unlike all other fish foods which use fishmeal. Result is a much higher level of nutrition - also fish are extremely attracted to the natural smell and taste of the food. It's a simple concept - would you rather have a real egg or a powdered egg? |
| Location of the manufacturing facility - Our flaked fish food is made in Alaska, at the heart of a vibrant commercial fishing and fish-processing hub. |
We are able to purchase high quality whole fish and other seafood such as salmon, herring, cod, shrimp, krill, and many other species, at very reasonable rates. We also have access to extremely fresh and valuable fish byproducts such as halibut, black cod, rockfish and many other species. |
| Natural gel binding characteristics of undenatured (unprocesssed) animal proteins. |
When animal proteins are first exposed to heat, the cells burst, mixing their contents and then gelling, thus binding the material together. This is what happens when you fry an egg. However, this only happens the first time. Fish foods that use fish meal, PDP, or other processed protein ingredients (everyone but us) have lost this fantastic quality and are instead, forced to use large amounts of plant starches as binders which are much less nutritious and attractive to fish. |
| Superior vitamin retention properties of undenatured marine protein binders vs. plant starch binders. |
Foods that use either plant binders or fresh marine protein binders, keep the product together with this bond. Included in this bonded mix are the vitamin additives. Since foods with only plant binders (everybody but us) are water soluble, the vitamins in the mix immediately begin to leach out when placed in water, losing much, if not all of their potency by the time the fish eat the food. Omega One's flake binds together using the natural gel quality of fresh undenatured marine proteins, which are not water soluble, insuring that fish receive the full amount of vitamin additives in the food. |
| We use an extremely high amount of fresh fish in our mix. Not counting the water we add to the slurry, 80% of our mix is a combination of fresh cold-water marine proteins such as shrimp, plankton, salmon, halibut, black cod, herring, clams, mussels, and much more blended with fresh marine kelps and algae. |
Extremely low ash content. Our fresh fish mixtures have ash readings of less than 2%. High ash in fish food is a result of high amount of grains and yeasts, which add very little to the nutrition of the product. With kelp, algae and other ingredients added to our mix we normally have an ash content of 6.7%, lower by far than any other fish food on the market. The lower the ash the better the water quality of your tank. |
| Natural color enhancers found in fish skins, particularly salmon. |
Fish skin, particularly salmon, which contain silver, yellow, blue and red caratenoids, offer the highest useable level of color enhancers possible for tropical fish. Unlike shrimp and krill whose high level of caratenoids are mostly unusable due to their poor digestibility, the skins of fish can be fully utilized in helping your aquarium fish reach their peak coloration potential. The dark flecks visible in the Omega One line of flaked fish foods are, in fact, tiny pieces of finely ground fish skins, which are part of the fresh, food grade, whole fish we use in our product. |
